In 2023 the USDA Forest Service received $1.5 billion for its Urban and Community Forestry program, from the Inflation Reduction Act, for increasing equitable access to trees & green space in urban and community forests in all 50 states.
The City of Billings Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands received $1 million of grant funds to increase tree equity by planting more boulevard trees in identified underserved areas and providing care and maintenance for existing boulevard trees in the IRA-designated area.
