The Billings Parks and Recreation Department works closely with a variety of individuals, organizations and groups to further enhance services for the citizens of Billings. These community outreach efforts take various forms from partnerships to volunteer engagement. The contributions of all the community partners and volunteers are greatly appreciated and have a significant impact on the quality of life in Billings.
Parks Rx
The Parks Rx maps were created by members of the Healthy By Design Coalition including Billings Parks, Recreation, and Public Lands and Living Independently For Today and Tomorrow (LIFTT). This project was made possible with a grant from the Public Health and Safety Division of the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services. The purpose of the Parks Rx initiative is to increase physical activity, social connections, and access to parks. With a focus on seniors and individuals experiencing disabilities, the Parks Rx maps recognize accessible walking routes and park features. Map features for Pioneer and North Park were identified by community representatives and Billings residents through park audits, focus groups, and surveys.
